Position Summary
The First Steps Parent/Education Coordinator is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operations of the First Steps Program in collaboration with First Steps Community Outreach Coordinator.
The First Steps Parent/Education Coordinator will assume responsibility for developing parent education events.
The First Steps Parent/Education Coordinator will also assist with the monitoring of patient visits, volunteer orientation and participation hours.
The First Steps Parent/Education Coordinator demonstrates the ability to work independently.
Education
Bachelors in Human Services field - Preferred
Knowledge in child abuse prevention, case work, parenting programs, volunteer services
Experience
1-2 Years - Preferred
1-2 Years experience in office work preferred.
Demonstrated flexibility and dedication to team involvement.
Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
License & Certification
None Required
Core Job Functions
Participates in the development of grant and applications and fundraising activities to provide supplemental funding for new and current programs.
Communicates with maternal patients pre delivery and post discharge.
Assesses the needs of the parent/ child and community to coordinate services that meet the need.
Visits new families in the hospital setting and provide crisis counseling and referrals.
Continues to grow services and maintains awareness of other opportunities with all new grant opportunities and follows grant guidelines.
Utilize interpersonal and therapeutic communication skills when interacting with patients, families, and members of the Provider and RN.
Communicates relevant, accurate, and complete information.
Volunteer records and service data maintained.
Manuals are reviewed, updated and revised, as applicable.
Maintains confidentiality of all records.
Informs and educates about programs to physicians and other healthcare providers.
Coordinates referrals for patients and families.
Forms collaborative partnerships.
Maintains calendars/ schedules and training for volunteer staff and the healthcare members.
Develops and maintains method for supplying updated educational materials for families.
Assists in the promotion and operation of program in hospital and community.
